One Mom's Experience:
Curt's bracelet saved his life a year ago when he escaped our home. He had gone out the front door and toddled down our country road wearing only house slippers, pajama pants and a t-shirt. He was only three years old, non-verbal, and it was dusk and chilly. He somehow passed our lake (with ducks flapping and quacking) and probably a few deer (always scampering out of the way) but somehow stayed focused on the road. My stomach turns just thinking about how it could have turned out--from either chasing an animal into the woods, or being smaller than an approaching car. But some wonderful Angel, a good samaritan indeed, was driving by and saw he was a little guy all alone--and certainly not dressed for a nature walk. So he stopped and saw the silver bracelet immediately.
He parked his car on the side of the road and put Curt in it, letting him play with the radio dials, while he called my number on his bracelet. When I answered the telephone, I was shocked and frantic when he told me he had my little one in his car. I did not even know yet that he'd slipped out (because I could hear his twin brother Colton, who's also autistic, playing in their room). The man explained that he was visiting the area so he was not familiar with my address. I told him I did not want him to go anywhere! "Just stay put and I'll be right there!" I frantically jumped in the car and sped down the almost half mile trek that my boy (who knows no danger) had just made on his own. And when I found that man at the end of the road, phone in one hand, my child's hand in the other, a happier Mother there NEVER was! I am convinced this "traveling man" was an Angel placed in just the right spot to save us. I am thankful to God first and foremost, and also thankful to your company for providing the tool that achieved a happy ending. Luckily we never had a repeat "escape." We put alarms on our outside doors that very week, and we keep their bracelets updated and legible periodically. (Their current ones have rubbed the color off the medical emblem and wording is scratched--they are busy boys and tough customers!) It is such a tiny, tiny price to pay for the security of knowing that other people can recognize there's an issue and respond appropriately.

I will be sharing this web site with my son's school, which is a state-funded school for autism spectrum children including a preschool section. I am sure that the parents would appreciate this information, especially if their children are wanderers like most autistic children tend to be. I did do some searching before I came across your site, which thankfully ended by distraught feeling of not finding a special needs-friendly product. I know autistic children don't like things hanging on them, especially not a necklace or bracelet, so the shoe tag is perfect and can be used on a coat, too.
